Our South Dakota data center is our flagship mining facility that houses servers to build part of the Bitcoin network within the state. This entire facility is used to verify transactions posted to the Bitcoin ledger, helping the network stay secure and transparent.
The key factors in the decision to build in South Dakota included the high percentage of available renewable energy, the business-friendly work environment, and a highly educated workforce.

Not only can Data Center Development bring new employment opportunities, it can also generate significant new revenue for local schools as well as additional infrastructure funds.
Big Watt Digital currently contributes more than $800,000 annually for local South Dakota schools through power use taxes on our current 30 MW operation running at nameplate capacity. As our operations expand, so does our use of power, and so will the dollar amount in tax revenue local school districts receive.
Our current projections indicate that when Big Watt Digital expands operations to 500 MWs we could be generating over $14 Million dollars annually for local South Dakota schools. This estimate suggests that at 500 MW, Big Watt Digital could be contributing nearly $90,000 per school-day for South Dakota schools.*
